ALL STUDENTS:

~Mark your planners, the Denver National College Fair is coming up on Sunday, September 30th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Denver Mart. Over 300 colleges and universities will be visiting with students. Must pre-register.  See posters around school or stop by Counseling.

 

~The 7th Grade Student council elections resulted in the following people being elected: Cal Foster as president, Max Monroe as Vice-president, and representatives Tony Adams, Mathias Bauer, Ciara Knoedler, Melesse Sanders, Vishnu Pothera, and Devyn Stevenson.  Congratulations to those elected and thanks for a very spirited campaign all around.  Our first meeting is TODAY in Mr. Beams room during 7th hour.  Sign up with your social studies teacher and then come on over.

~Today is the optional College Essay Workshop for Seniors in Counseling.  This is a great time to focus and hopefully finalize your essays! 

 

~Seniors, are you overwhelmed with the common app or other college applications? Never fear your counseling team is here! Come down to counseling today during 7th hour for our common app workshop where we can answer all your questions, help get you started, and/or anything else you may need to make the process less intimidating.

 

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

~On Wednesday, Sept. 26th 7th graders with last names A-L will report to the cafeteria for 7th hour to meet with Mr. Northway and complete a needs assessment survey.  On Thursday, Sept. 27th ,7th graders with last names M-Z will report to the cafeteria for 7th hour to meet with Mr. Northway as well.

 

DAZZLING JAGS!

 

~Congratulations to the Marching Band for a fierce performance on Saturday at the Monarch Marching Competition.  The band placed first in 3A competition!

 

~Congrats to the Boys’ tennis team for getting 2nd out of 8 teams at the Littleton tournament!  Brandon Pennington and Phoenix Lee both got 1st place in 1 and 2 singles. Chance Palmer and Coltin Spiller got 2nd at 3 doubles.  Carter Smith got 3rd in 3 singles along with Clint Gersabeck and Mason Gustafson at 4 doubles and Carter Dart and Dominic Cushnie got 4th at 1 doubles along with Keith Hedlund and Issac Li at 2 doubles.  Please come support the boys this week as they take on Green Mountain on Tuesday and Conifer on Thursday at home.  Go Jags!

~On Monday, the College of Charleston from Charleston, South Carolina will be in Counseling during 7th hour to meet with interested students.  For those history buffs, the College of Charleston was established before the United States, back in 1770.  In addition 5 campus buildings are registered historic landmarks.

ALL STUDENTS:

ALL STUDENTS: 

~Come watch your volleyball team play tonight at home against Golden High School. JV starts 5:30 and Varsity plays at 7:00.

~Congratulations to Emily Belmonte who won the All Around event in her gymnastics meet for Green Mountain High School last week. She placed 2nd on vault, 3rd on beam, 2nd on floor, and 3rd on bars.

 

~Congratulations to the softball team for another impressive league win.  Saturday they defeated WR 4-1 and yesterday GM 6-5.  Nice job ladies.  Next home game is Saturday vs Evergreen.

 

~Boys Golf participated in the 4a regional this Monday at the Air Force Academy Silver course to try to qualify for the state tournament. Congratulations to Medhaj Shrestha who shot an 81 and earned entry into the state tournament. Congratulations to the rest of the team: Taylor Gustafson, Philip Ahn, Sam Spiers, Medhaj Shrestha, Tyler Carver for a great season which includes finishing second in Jeffco League as well as some outstanding individual and team efforts throughout the season.

~The September Scholars of the Month were selected by the Math Department and are as follows:

 

The Senior High Female Scholar of the Month is Kayli Langan. Kayli approaches her education with an admirable work ethic. She completes every problem of her problem sets on time, and with great attention to detail and to showing her work. She is taking Algebra 3 Advanced, so there are frequently challenging problems. Kayli often comes in during seventh hour or before school to ask questions to make sure she understands those problems. She is always willing to go above and beyond when completing her work. Kayli fully participates in class every day, and always demonstrates respect for classmates and for staff. She truly embodies our D’Evelyn values of Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Responsibility. Great job, Kayli!!

~The Senior High Male Scholar of the Month is Alex Miceli.  Alex is the mvp of Mr Ryckman's 5th hour BC Calculus course. He enthusiastically tries problems he has never seen before and is the leader of class discussions with his questions and responses. In short, Alex is an amazing student of The Calculus!

Lilly works diligently each and every day.  She takes the time to make corrections on all of her problem sets so that she ensures that she knows how to work every single problem on every problem set.  Her effort has resulted in grades of A on each of her first two tests.  Keep up the good work Lilly!

~Interested in traveling to Costa Rica this summer?  Once again, D'Evelyn will be joining Bear Creek on an international trip.  The cost will be around $2000 and the dates are July 9th -July 18th, 2019. The first parent meeting will be tonight, Wednesday, September 19th in the Lecture Hall at Bear Creek.  Please contact Paige Stevenson if you have any questions.

~CONGRATULATIONS to the Marching Band for an outstanding performance at Jeffco Marching Invitational.  This was their debut performance in 3A and they absolutely nailed it!  Congratulations on our first - 1st place in 3A!

~There are various upcoming College Information Nights, not at D’Evelyn, for students and parents who want more information.  Check the “See What’s Happening” bulletin board by the cafeteria.  You will notice MIT, University of Virginia, Princeton, USC@Berkeley, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, Columbia, and more!

 

SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

~Students receive an academic letter for earning a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher during the fall and spring semester of a school year. If you accomplished this, your name should appear on one of the documents hanging on the front door. This award is different from the honor roll which is earned for one semester of 3.0 or higher G.P.A. Please let Mr. Kottcamp know if you earned an academic letter but your name does not appear on the list, so that we can correct the awards ceremony program.

 

~Seniors, if you are interested in applying for the highly selective Boettcher Scholarship please come down to counseling TODAY during 7th hour to take the competitiveness quiz and to learn more about the process. Remember this is a very competitive scholarship, and is only awarded to students who will be attending college in Colorado.

~Interested in traveling to Costa Rica this summer?  Once again, D'Evelyn will be joining Bear Creek on an international trip.  The cost will be around $2000 and the dates are July 9th -July 18th, 2019. The first parent meeting will be Wednesday, September 19th in the Lecture Hall at Bear Creek.  Please contact Paige Stevenson if you have any questions.

 

~Senior Parents! We still have more space for baby pictures! Make sure you submit and pay for your favorite pictures via the yearbook link to the senior tribute ad on the D'Evelyn website! You can pay for up to three pictures of favorite childhood memories! You only have until this Friday to be involved in the yearbook!!

 

~School Store

The school store is open and ready for business! Get your spirit gear today.  Hot items - stadium seats, sweatshirts and the new school spirit scarves!!  Hours: Tues/Thurs 10:20 am - 11:50am and the second Wednesday of the month at 2pm - 2:40 pm.  

 

~Parents of 11th and 12th graders:  If you want to OPT OUT of having your students CONTACT INFORMATION given to the military, you must log into Jeffco Connect and do so.  Click on your students name and then on enrollment.  Next, scroll down and click on Opt out.  The deadline for this to be done is September 28th. Call Mrs. Brown in counseling if you have any questions.

 

~BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION:  

Hey Jags, keep collecting those Box Tops.  When you bring them in please make sure they are not expired.  The collection box is located just inside the doors of the front office. Thanks for your continued support!
